The <option>--without-dm</option> and <option>--without-mpath</option> options are not in the instructions provided by the book because <xref linkend="lvm2"/> is required for <xref linkend="cryptsetup"/> and <xref linkend="cryptsetup"/> is a recommended dependency of <application>libblockdev</application> anyway.
